Cameron Carey

I work with adults, children, and adolescents, helping them understand their emotions, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to feel successful at home, school, work and in relationships. Many of the kids and teens I work with struggle with big feelings, behavior challenges, anxiety, or difficulty expressing themselves and my role is to help them make those experiences feel manageable instead of overwhelming. Many of the adults I work with struggle with navigating past trauma, life changes/stressors, managing emotions, and practical life skills.
Who We Help
At Carey Counseling, we support individuals and families navigating a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where people can better understand themselves, build resilience, and develop the skills needed to thrive.
Children & Adolescents
Childhood and adolescence can bring big emotions and complex challenges. We work with children and teens who may be struggling with anxiety, behavioral concerns, difficulty expressing emotions, or challenges at school or home. Through supportive and developmentally appropriate approaches, we help young people learn how to understand their feelings, manage behavior, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills.
Adults
Many adults come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by past experiences, life transitions, or ongoing stress. We support adults who are navigating trauma, emotional difficulties, relationship challenges, or personal growth goals. Our work focuses on helping clients process difficult experiences, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop practical tools for everyday life.
Individuals Experiencing Trauma or Abuse
We provide support for individuals who have experienced domestic violence, emotional or physical abuse, sexual abuse, or other traumatic events. Therapy can help individuals safely process these experiences, rebuild a sense of control, and move toward healing.
Behavioral & Emotional Challenges
We work with individuals experiencing a variety of emotional and behavioral concerns, including anxiety, depression, anger management challenges, mood disorders, behavioral issues, and difficulties with self-esteem or emotional regulation. Therapy provides a space to understand these challenges and develop healthier patterns of thinking and behavior.
Family & Life Transitions
Life changes such as divorce, family conflict, career stress, or major life transitions can feel overwhelming. We support individuals and families as they navigate these changes and work toward healthier communication, stronger relationships, and greater personal stability.
Specialized Areas of Support
Our counseling services also support individuals dealing with challenges related to ADHD, childhood behavioral disorders, trauma and PTSD, coping skills development, career counseling, and complex emotional or personality-related concerns.
What We Do
At Carey Counseling, we use evidence-based therapy approaches that are tailored to each person’s needs, age, and experiences. Our goal is to help clients understand their thoughts and emotions, process difficult experiences, and build practical skills that support long-term healing and growth.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR therapy helps individuals process and heal from traumatic or distressing experiences that may still feel emotionally overwhelming. By helping the brain reprocess these memories, EMDR can reduce the intensity of trauma-related thoughts, feelings, and physical responses. This approach is often helpful for trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and difficult life experiences that continue to affect daily life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In therapy, clients learn to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop healthier ways of responding to challenges. This approach can help individuals build practical coping skills for anxiety, depression, stress, and everyday life difficulties.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT helps individuals develop skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and reducing impulsive or harmful behaviors. Through DBT, clients learn tools for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthier communication.
Play Therapy
For children, play is a natural way of expressing thoughts and emotions that may be difficult to put into words. Play therapy provides a safe and supportive space where children can explore feelings, work through challenges, and develop emotional and social skills through guided play.
Parts & Attachment-Based Therapy
Parts and attachment-focused approaches help individuals understand the different “parts” of themselves that may have developed in response to past experiences. This approach supports healing from early relational wounds and helps individuals develop a stronger sense of self, emotional safety, and healthier relationships.
Nervous System Regulation
Many emotional challenges are connected to how the nervous system responds to stress and past experiences. Therapy can include techniques that help regulate the nervous system, allowing clients to feel more grounded, calm, and in control of their emotional responses. These tools help individuals move out of survival responses and into a state where healing and growth can occur.
